Are You a Christian?

People of the United States, I can see that you are a very religious people. You have statues, memorials and churches everywhere, yet, you do not know Christ.

You have been led to believe in your ceremonies, rituals, ordinances and obligations, yet, you do not believe in Christ for your salvation.

The Scriptures tell us in John 3:18 that those who do not believe in God’s one and only Son are condemned already.

Yes, this sounds a bit judgmental but I look around and do not see a Holy Spirit amongst the people.

The Scriptures tell us in Romans 8:9 that if you do not have the Spirit of Christ in you that you do not belong to Christ.

If we were to survey this nation there would be a large majority that would claim to be Christian.

Christianity is not a nationality like being an American. Christianity is not a political party like being Republican. Christianity is not an organization like the American Legion or Rotary club. Christianity is not a system of morality either.

Being Christian is to be reborn into a new creation. You are no longer a natural born human being but a Spirit born child of God. You have been transformed into a new being. You have the Spirit of Christ living in you. You have power over sin and the fleshly desires of this world. You have become a foreigner, stranger and even alien to this world. You have become a citizen of the Kingdom of God.

Although Christians reside in this world and even in this nation, they are not to be a part of the natural sinfulness that so easily entangles the natural born individual. Christians have a higher calling. They are a chosen people, a royal priesthood and should live according to their high calling.

The Christian is a foreign ambassador to this world. They are commissioned to teach about Christ and lead others to a new belief that will transform the natural citizen’s life. The Christian does this by believing, trusting and relying upon the King of their Kingdom. They live out their faith in this world all the while leading other to believe in their King also.

The Holy Spirit, sent from God the Father, through belief in His Son, is the guarantee that a person is truly a Kingdom citizen or a Christian.

I ask that all who claim Christ would check their self to make sure that they are truly in the faith. Check yourself and make sure you have been filled with the Spirit of Christ. If that is not the spirit you are filled with I pray you will seek the Lord with your whole heart, turn from your sinful ways and ask Him to give you this special gift.
